REDMOND, WA, (Nov. 2022) – A Lake of the Woods Home has won an award for the Green Detached Home, Built For Sale category in the 2022 Best in American Living™ Awards (BALA) by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Award levels, including platinum, gold, and silver, as well as Best in Region and Of the Year recipients, will be announced at the virtual award ceremony held during the 2023 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Located in Woodinville, WA, this 5,614sqft home was fully designed and built by Lochwood Lozier Custom Homes in collaboration with 425 Magazine’s yearly Idea House program. Lochwood Lozier’s in-house Architectural Designers, Matt Mamiya and Heidi Schmitten, worked collaboratively with Interior Designer, Sarah Smith, to complete the homes design. This home was Green Built verified at a level 5 certification by the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish counties.
The 2021 Northwest Idea House is a mix of Scandinavian modern aesthetics, inspired by its architecture and natural surroundings. By overlapping nature and living, the home has a very distinct relationship with its environment. Its Pacific Northwest authenticity is confirmed with in home sightings of the eagles, Hooded Merganser ducks, deer, river otter, and an active beaver lodge in the backyard. The home exudes a sense of calm as it invites you in with its light and airy foyer and direct views of the natural habitat beyond the glass doors to the exterior. Each space was built with intention, whether that’s to relax, heal, create, or gather.
Now in its 39th year, BALA recognizes outstanding achievement by builders and design professionals in all sectors of the residential housing industry including single-family production, custom, multifamily, affordable, remodeling, community and interiors. BALA is built on the principle that all great homes start with great design, no matter cost or size.
Buying a home is often the most significant purchase people will make in their lifetime, and BALA winners spotlight what building industry professionals need to know to set their project apart and hit the right mark with today’s highly educated and discerning home buyers.
