Lozier’s Migrate to the United States

January 1, 1657 / Admin

Francois Lozier (originally Le Suer) was born in 1625 Charlesmesnil or Colmesnil-Manneville, boroughs or market towns that are located a few miles south of Dieppe, in Normandy, France. His name, which his descendants transformed into Leseur, Lesier, Lazear and Lozier, was well established in the Caux region.

He landed in New Amsterdam with his sister Jeanne on April 10th, 1657. He settled in Flatbush, Long Island, New York and then moved to Nieuw Haarlem, in the northern part of Manhattan island. He married Jannetje Hillebrandts on 12 July 1659, in Netherlands. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Ulster, New York, United States in 1660. He died on 30 November 1671, in Harlem, Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States, at the age of 46.
