Honoring Earth Day as a Builder

April 22, 2022 / Betsy Walker

As a builder, it is incredibly important to practice sustainability everyday, not only on Earth Day. While there have been major advancements in recent decades, the building industry as a whole must continuously strive to make construction more green and efficient.

Here are some tips on how to do just that:

✅ Natural Design Solutions

Architects and designers have a key role to play in reducing carbon emissions. Nature-based design strategies are just one of the many ways we work towards sustainability throughout the build process.

🧱 Source Local and Innovative Construction Materials

Local and innovative construction materials not only make construction more sustainable, it but also challenges the design and engineering processes to push new bounds.

♻️ Improve Construction Recycling Programs

Recycling construction and demolition materials can help reduce our footprint as a builder. The incorporation of onsite recycling could be the first, small step to implementing a more eco-friendly job site.

💚 Greener Building Standards and Certifications

The Built Green certification program of Master Builders Association is one of the most advanced green rating systems in the country and acts as a great example of how to design green buildings that cohesively interact with the local environment. We are proud to be members!

Green Building is the Future!
Happy Earth Day
