Lochwood-Lozier Custom Homes Founded

January 1, 1984 / Admin

The Lozier family moved to the Pacific Northwest from Omaha, Nebraska in 1958. “My grandfather was a successful electrical contractor there, but he moved here for the opportunity to build homes with his three sons” says Todd.  At that time they began building homes in Bellevue, one house at a  time. In 1961, Lozier Construction Incorporated with Wes Lozier and his three sons David, Jon and Robin and Lozier Homes was incorporated.  With a lot of hard work, integrity and good help, by the 1970’s they were operating one of the largest homebuilding companies in the state, formally known as The Lozier Group.

Jon left The Lozier Group in 1983 and on April 4th, 1984 Lochwood-Lozier was formed by Jon & Pat Lozier with a mission focused on high-end custom building. Pat, Jon’s business partner, was the VP of the company and also handled all Marketing and Interior Design. To differentiate themselves from the family’s original building business, the name, “Lochwood” was born from the 1912 Lozier-Lakewood automobile.

From the very beginning, Todd worked at Lochwood-Lozier Custom Homes.

“In high school, I worked on job sites after school and over summer breaks. After high school graduation, I worked full-time, learning the trades from foundations to framing to finish carpentry. But I realized that I wasn’t going to advance in the company as I desired without a college education—something my father insisted on.  So I was accepted into the University of Washington and earned a degree in Construction Management from the School of Architecture,” he notes.

In college, Todd was president of U.W.’s student chapter of the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) for two years. Over the course of three national competitions, Todd and his team placed first in the nation at a Nevada competition.  He graduated in 1993.  After continuing full time with the business for another 12 years and working his way up the proverbial corporate ladder, in 2005, Todd officially took over the reins of Lochwood-Lozier.

“I love what I do. I love creating things.  My father’s skills, history and love of homebuilding has made great impressions on me, and Patricia Lozier has taught me to have a critical eye for colors, perspective, and relationships.  Together we have made a good team, and established a strong foundation for the company’s future” he says.
